Group Presentation - Keen it simple and duplicable

2. My doctor has put me on HRT for protection of heart disease, stroke and osteoporosis - What will happen if I lose that protection?

Osteoporosis (osteoclasts are like Pac-men, they eat bones. HRT (estrogens) never builds bone mass, it just slows down the Pac-men from eating the old defrayed bone, so bone mass tests show less loss, but you still have old brittle bones. Progesterone feeds osteoblasts, which come in and build new bone.

The estrogen protection only lasts 5 years; don’t fall on old defrayed bone.

Fosamax: #1 Drug in America, sold for Osteoporosis all based on only one study, which suggested it slows loss of bone mass, but many side effects. Avg. 4-8% inc. in bone mass over 3-5 yrs. = but bones are very brittle, breakable. Patients must sit or stand for 30 min. after injections as major risk is burning of esophagus!!!
